Tuesday, 07 September 2021 | PNS | Dehradun

The first phase of the Parivartan Yatra of the Congress in Uttarakhand ended on Monday at Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district. Enthused by the good response of the Yatra, the in-charge of Uttarakhand Congress, Devendra Yadav said that the objective of the Yatra is not merely change in government but to usher in a radical change in the lives of the people of Uttarakhand. He said that the BJP came to power in the state by making false promises which it could not fulfil in the last four and half years of its rule. Yadav said that the BJP was only able to give three chief ministers and increase the burden on the economy of the state during its tenure so far. He said that the farmers of the country want the government to take back three draconian farm laws but the government is not listening to them. Yadav said that the farmers are determined to settle scores with BJP in the assembly elections of the year 2022.

The general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) and former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the double engine of BJP has put the values of freedom in peril. He said that during the BJP’s rule 125 crore people have become poorer and only 125 businessmen have prospered. Rawat promised the Congress would fill 22000 vacant posts in different government departments when it comes to power in the state.  He also assured the issue of land ownership in the state would also be solved within three months of assuming power. Taking a dig at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Rawat said that the people who are claiming to provide free power in Uttarakhand should talk about power tariff in Delhi?

The Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal said that the people of the state have made up their mind to change government in the year 2022. He said that the Congress would focus on removing unemployment when it comes to power in the state.

The Leader of Opposition (LoP), Pritam Singh said that the BJP has become frightened by the huge response the Parivartan Yatra is generating among the people.

The working presidents of state Congress Bhuwan Kapdi, Tilak Raj Behed, Jeet Ram, Ranjit Rawat and others were present on the occasion.
