2-day Devbhoomi Cultural Festival begins in Badrinath today

The Indian Army, in collaboration with the Chamoli, district administration, will organise the Devbhoomi Cultural Festival 2026 on September 19 and 20 in Badrinath under Operation Sadbhavana.

Guided by the theme ‘Our Heritage, Our Future’ the two-day festival aims to celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand while promoting border tourism, preserving traditional art forms, encouraging entrepreneurship, empowering women and generating livelihood opportunities for the people residing in the border villages, said the Army officers associated with the event.

The festival will feature folk dances, traditional music, cultural performances by schools and colleges, exhibitions of local handicrafts, handloom products, organic produce, Himalayan cuisine and stalls by women self-help groups and local entrepreneurs. Interactive displays by the Indian Army will also provide visitors with an opportunity to learn about the Army’s role in border management, disaster response and nation-building.

The organisers further said that the festival seeks to strengthen the rural economy and encourage tourism-based livelihoods by providing a platform to local artisans and entrepreneurs. “The event also supports the objectives of the Vibrant Villages Programme, which focuses on improving the quality of life and economic opportunities in border villages,” an Army officer said. .

Comprehensive arrangements for security, traffic management, medical assistance, sanitation, parking and visitor facilities are being made jointly by the Indian Army and the district administration to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all visitors.
