At least two persons died and four others were injured as the car they were travelling in fell into a 300-meter-deep gorge near Kothali village on Hindolakhal-Neergaddu motor road in Narendra Nagar police station area. The mishap occurred at around 10.30 pm on Tuesday night.
The station house officer (SHO), Narendra Nagar, Gopal Dutt Bhatt along with his team and a State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) team rushed to the site on receiving information of the accident from the locals and started the rescue operation promptly.
Bhatt informed that the car had six occupants. “Four of them were found seriously injured. We sent them to AIIMS Rishikesh and the other two were sent to the Narendra Nagar hospital,” he said, adding that two of the seriously injured had succumbed to their injuries while the treatment of others was going on. He further said that the car was heading towards Kothali from Rishikesh when the driver lost control over it and the accident happened.
The two deceased were identified as Dilbar Singh (35) and Sanjeet Singh (25), both residents of village Kothali, Narendra Nagar.
