In latest Uttarakhand news, with rain still wreaking havoc in some parts of the State even when the southwest monsoon is reportedly retreating, two persons, including a woman, were killed as lightning struck Sarpani village, Nandanagar in Chamoli district. The villagers said that the lightning had struck them at around 9 pm when it was raining torrentially. The deceased have been identified as Hema (24), wife of Naresh Lal, and Prakash Lal (28). As they sustained severe burn injuries in the lightning strike, they were rushed to the Nandanagar hospital where the doctors declared them brought dead.
