2 persons found in revenue court room: DM orders probe

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Haldwani

The Nainital district magistrate, Lalit Mohan Ryal has ordered an inquiry after two individuals were found handling land revenue court files during a surprise inspection of Haldwani Tehsil on Monday. During the inspection, the DM noticed that the unauthorised persons were occupying a room linked to the Tehsildar and Naib Tehsildar courts and dealing with public matters related to revenue cases while no authorised government staff was present. Sensitive court records were found accessible to outsiders, the DM said, calling it a serious administrative and judicial lapse.

Taking a stern note of this lapse, he directed the additional district magistrate (Finance & Revenue), Nainital, to conduct a time-bound and impartial inquiry to fix responsibility. The probe will examine how the individuals gained access, responsibility of officials concerned and whether any rules were violated or undue benefit was given.

The DM has sought the inquiry report within three weeks, directing that records be secured and strict action taken if any wrongdoing is found.
