Two young riders were killed when the speeding bike they were riding lost control and rammed a roadside tree near the Tanda police post on the Haldwani-Rampur Road in the intervening night of Thursday and Friday. Both died on the spot, police said.
After the accident, both men were left lying in the bushes on the roadside. Upon receiving information about the incident in the morning, the police reached the spot, took the bodies into custody and sent them to the mortuary for post-mortem.
According to police, Chetan Chauhan (25) and Vaibhav Chhabra (24), both residents of Rudrapur, were travelling on the Haldwani-Rampur Road late at night on their bike- number UK 06 BN 8480. Near the Tanda police station, the bike lost control and struck a roadside tree. The impact was so severe that both men died on the spot.
After the accident, both young men lay in the bushes. Upon receiving information about the incident in the morning, a police team arrived at the scene. The deceased were unable to be identified during the initial investigation. After further investigation, the police identified them and informed their families.
