200 sanitation workers to be deployed for Global Investors Summit

The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) will deploy about 200 additional sanitation workers along with six supervisors and three sanitation inspectors to ensure proper level of sanitation across the city during the Global Investors Summit scheduled to be held on December 8 and 9 in Dehradun. These supervisors and sanitation inspectors will be called from nearby municipal bodies to provide assistance to the MCD’s sanitation team, said the chief municipal health officer Dr Avinash Khanna. He said that he recently held multiple meetings with the sanitation team regarding the planning of sanitation on all routes. The sanitation duty across the city will be assigned to about 200 sanitation workers on 13 major routes, as per the plan. The number of sanitation workers has been decided according  to the length of each route and the frequency of garbage generation there, said Khanna. On the 15.3 kilometre long stretch from Asharodi to Niranjanpur Mandi to Ballupur, 30 sanitation workers will be deployed. On 5.3 kilometre long routes from Madhuban Hotel to Mussoorie Road and Chhe Number Puliya to Fountain Chowk, 15 and six sanitation workers will be deployed respectively. The corporation will deploy 15 workers on the 4.7 kilometre long route from Rispana bridge to Dharampur Chowk- Nehru Colony-Prince Chowk-Darshanlal Chowk. Besides this, 14 and 15 workers will be deployed on Harrawala to Rispana bridge and on Araghar Chowk to Survey Chowk-Behl Chowk-Clock Tower respectively. Three workers will be deployed on the 4.9 kilometre long route from Raipur to Survey Chowk and 12 workers on the 3.4 kilometre route from Clock Tower to Ballupur Chowk and between Rispana bridge and ISBT. Besides this, 20 sanitation workers will also be deployed for sweeping work at night, said Khanna. He said that 10 sanitation workers will also be included in a quick response team. Khanna said that MCD will also deploy three to four vehicles for sanitation works. He also informed that MCD is expected to spend between Rs 25 to 40 lakh on all preparations for the investors summit as per its current plan. He also clarified that so far, the corporation has received no separate budget from the government to carry out these sanitation works. Khanna also said that usual work regarding maintaining sanitation in the city will not be affected during the summit.
