The second batch of a 14-day water skiing course organised by the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering (IISM), Gulmarg, under the Ministry of Tourism began at Koti Colony in Tehri. The institute’s principal colonel Ishwar Singh Thapa said that Koti Colony is among the most suitable locations for water sports activities, citing its clean water and favourable natural surroundings.
He said that the institute is conducting three batches of 14-day water skiing courses this year, continuing the initiative undertaken last year. Of the 25 trainees who applied from across the country, 21 reported to the institute and are currently undergoing training.
Officials claimed that the programme brings together participants from different States, providing them an opportunity to develop their water skiing skills and gain practical exposure to water sports. The initiative is expected to support the promotion of adventure sports and water-based recreational activities in the Tehri region.
