22 new swine flu cases reported in Dehradun

Dehradun district reported 22 new cases of swine flu (Influenza H1N1) on Tuesday, while 19 patients recovered on the same day from this. Dehradun’s chief medical officer, Dr Manoj Kumar Sharma, stated that with the new cases confirmed on Tuesday, the cumulative total of swine flu cases has reached 506. Out of these, 337 cases are from Dehradun district and the remaining 169 cases are from other States and districts.

Of the 22 new cases reported on Tuesday, nine are from Dehradun and 13 are from other States and districts. Following a death audit, two fatalities associated with swine flu have been confirmed, according to Sharma.

He added that currently, there are 74 active cases. Of these, 43 patients are being treated at Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital, 17 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rishikesh, five at Graphic Era Hospital, four at Himalayan Hospital, two at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) Hospital and two at Kailash Hospital.

CMO said that among the total of 506 cases, 267 patients are male and 239 are female. The age distribution reveals that the highest number of swine flu cases, 87, is in the 61-70 years age group, followed by 80 cases each in the 1-10 years age group and the 51-60 years age group.
