22-year-old woman hangs herself inside staff quarter of CM residence

A 22-year-old woman from Rudraprayag allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself inside the staff quarters of the chief minister residence on New Cantt Road here on Thursday. A police team was sent to the government quarter on New Cantt Road in receiving information about a woman who had hanged herself with a plastic rope, as per the police. They said that the woman was sent to the Coronation hospital by 108 ambulance service where the doctor declared her dead.
The police said that the police team carried out the procedure of Panchayatnama in the presence of the family members. The police informed that the deceased has been identified as Surekha Rawat who hailed from Ukhimath in Rudraprayag district and was presently living with her brother who works as one of the workers taking care of the cows at the official CM residence in Dehradun.
The police said that as per the family members of the deceased, she was preparing for competitive exams. The victim hanged herself with a plastic rope that appears to be the cause of her death as per the preliminary inquiry, said the police. However, the police said that they are investigating the matter and are waiting for the post mortem report of the victim.
