220 forest land transfer cases pending: DM acts tough

While chairing a virtual meeting to review the progress of various pending forest land transfer cases for development projects in the district on Tuesday, the district magistrate, Prashant Arya directed the officials concerned to expedite the disposal of these cases. “Unnecessary delays in development projects will not be tolerated under any circumstances,” he stated. Also, he directed the officials concerned to identify Compensatory Afforestation   land for high-priority projects and to immediately update the land bank, considering future needs.

The review revealed that a total of 155 forest land transfer cases are currently pending in Stage One, while 65 cases are pending in Stage Two. A total of 76 cases have received approval from the Centre.  
During the review of the works related to Jal Sansthan and Jal Nigam, the DM sounded unhappy over the lack of progress in forest land transfer pertaining to Jal Jeevan Mission. He also took a stern note of the absence of some senior officers from the virtual meeting.   

Among the senior officers present at the meeting included the additional district magistrate, Mukta Mishra; divisional forest officer, D P Baluni; superintending engineer, PWD, Vijay Kumar and district tourism officer, K K Joshi.
