In latest news from Uttarakhand, in a major drug haul, the Haldwani police led by the SP city Prakash Chandra seized 223 grams of smacks from three persons who were smuggling the contraband on two- wheeler. The trio was arrested from Ganna Centre, Transport Nagar in Haldwani during a vehicle checking drive. Police said case was registered under the NDPS Act against the accused drug peddlers. The trio was identified as Charanjit Singh (42) from Rudrapur in Udham Singh Nagar district, Manish Kumar (24) from Dewalchor Haldwani and Rinku Kashyap (25) from Badaun, Uttar Pradesh.
Sharing details, police said that the trio had purchased the narcotics from a person identified as Bittu at Dataganj in Badaun, UP and was smuggling it to Haldwani to sell.
