257 roads remain blocked in various parts of State

Even as the State witnessed a break from heavy rain on Tuesday, at least 257 roads remained blocked due to landslides and other factors across the State. According to the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC), out of the 1,438 roads which have been affected so far, 1,181 have been restored while 257 are yet to be restored. In the Rudraprayag district, four rural motor roads are blocked while in the Uttarkashi district one rural motor road is blocked. In the Chamoli district, the national highway to Badrinath was blocked by boulder fall near Jyotirmath. The pilgrims returning from Badrinath were halted at Jyotirmath. The polling parties for the Badrinath Assembly by-election, for which voting is to be held today, walked from Selag to Jyotirmath due to the highway being blocked. Apart from this, one main district road, one district road and 19 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. One main district road and 12 rural motor roads are blocked in Bageshwar district while seven rural motor roads are blocked in Dehradun district. In the Pithoragarh district, six border roads and 23 rural motor roads are reported to be blocked while in the Almora district one State highway and 12 rural motor roads are blocked. Two State highways and 14 rural motor roads are blocked in Nainital district while one State highway and 56 rural motor roads are blocked in Champawat district. While all highways and other roads are reported to be open in Haridwar district, one State highway, one main district road and nine rural motor roads are blocked in Pauri district. Twenty rural motor roads are blocked in the Udham Singh Nagar district while three rural motor roads are blocked in the Tehri district.
