Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat informed that 276 doctors will soon be recruited in the Health and Family Welfare department. He averred that the State government’s goal is to address the shortage of doctors and improve medical facilities for the public at the local level. To achieve this, the government has decided to fill the vacant backlog positions within the Medical Health and Family Welfare department. In line with this initiative, the department has submitted a requisition to the Uttarakhand Medical Service Selection Board to fill these 276 backlog posts of doctors, he added.
Rawat further stated that this recruitment initiative aims to address the shortage of doctors across the state, ensuring that people receive better medical treatment at the local level due to the presence of regular doctors in medical units. He emphasised that the government is taking comprehensive measures to prevent any difficulties for patients in government hospitals. A monitoring system is being established to guarantee that patients receive quality treatment along with necessary medicines in medical units. Additionally, the attendance of doctors, paramedical staff and pharmacists is being closely monitored, Rawat said.
He further said that the government is working to ensure that the general public can easily access the various health schemes offered by both the Central and State governments. The State government has recently approved the appointment of seven additional faculty members at Government Doon Medical College (GDMC). This includes two associate professors and five assistant professors, who will be appointed on a contract basis.
