2,765 cases settled in Lok Adalats in Dehradun

National Lok Adalats held on Saturday in Dehradun district settled 2,765 cases. The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) organised National Lok Adalats as per the directions of the State Legal Services Authority (SLSA) in the courts of Dehradun, Rishikesh, Vikasnagar, Doiwala and Chakrata. The DLSA secretary and civil judge Neha Kushwaha informed that 17 benches were formed for the disposal of several types of cases ranging from compoundable cases under the motor vehicle act, civil matters, family matters, check bounce cases and certain matters of offences in the Lok Adalats in the district. She said that bank recovery cases at the pre-litigation level were also disposed of in the Lok Adalats. A total of 208 pre-litigation cases were settled based on mutual agreement and an amount of Rs 1,34,59,980/- was disbursed too.She said that a total of 2,765 cases were settled in a day besides the settlement of a total of Rs Rs 6,47,37,163. She said that thousands of cases are being referred in every session of Lok Adalat and locals must approach the court for the immediate disposal of the eligible cases there. Since the cases are settled mutually between the parties, the decision taken in Lok Adalats cannot be challenged afterwards which gives a sense of security to both parties, added Kushwaha.
