2nd pilgrim group of senior citizens leaves for Badrinath

In latest Uttarakhand news, the second group of the elderly pilgrims from Pithoragarh left for Badrinath shrine after a programme was organised to mark the event by Tourism Development Council Pithoragarh. Notably, this pilgrimage is being sponsored by the State government under Deendayal Upadhyaya Matri Pitri Teerthatan Yojana’. A senior Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam officer and the nodal officer of the yatra Dinesh Gururani administered an oath under the Save Himalayas Campaign to the members of the pilgrims’ group and had pledge forms filled up by them. Saplings were handed to the pilgrims to be planted in places like Baijnath, Bageshwar, Joshimath and Badrinath. The group comprises 21 women and 10 men.
