3-day National Paragliding Competition ends

The three-day National Paragliding Accuracy Competition has concluded at Kedareshwar Maidan in Bageshwar. It was organised under the aegis of Uttarakhand Tourism Development Board and Bageshwar district administration. In all, 31 paragliders from eight state, the Army and the Assam Rifles participated in the competition. After the conclusion of the three-day event, the local MLA Suresh Gariya who was the chief guest and the district magistrate Anuradha Pal gave Rs 50,000 to Sunil Kumar who stood first in the competition, Rs 30,000 to Pankaj Singh Mehta who stood second and Rs 20,000 to Manish Upreti, who stood third.
Gariya said that all kinds of sports would be encouraged in the district. He sought cooperation from all.
District magistrate Anuradha Pal said that Kapkot is an ideal place for paragliding. She further said that it was the first national level paragliding competition organised in the district and it was successful too. Speaking of the immense possibilities of adventure sports in the district, she said that such sports events being organised would boost the local economy through boosting adventure tourism, benefitting all. She appealed to the youths to take more and more interests in adventure sports.
