3 paediatricians deployed at SNCU ward of Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital on rotational basis

To tackle the problem caused by the leave of a designated paediatrician at the Special Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) ward, Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital the State health department has relocated three doctors to the ward in a rotating 15-day phase. Stating this, the hospital’s medical superintendent Dr V S Chauhan said on Wednesday that the recently hired paediatrician out of the two sanctioned posts for the SNCU ward has taken a leave for personal reasons and would return to work in 15 to 20 days.
“Determined to carry on with the operations of the ward in the face of this problem, three paediatricians from the government hospitals in Rishikesh, Mussoorie and Raipur have been temporarily reassigned to the ward. Each paediatrician will serve for a phase of 15 days each and then pass the baton on to the next paediatrician for the next fortnight. This way the rotating system will continue till things are solved permanently,” he added.
He further said that to facilitate uninterrupted and efficient service at the ward, the hospital administration had made the paediatrician Dr Neetu Tomar of Deen Dayal Upadhyay District Hospital the nodal officer of the SNCU ward at Gandhi Shatabdi Eye Hospital.
Asked about the vacant position of a paediatrician at the SNCU ward, Chauhan said that two positions for paediatricians had been approved for SNCU. “One was filled prior to its inauguration and he is currently on leave. The second position remains vacant till date although the recruitment process has already begun,” he added.
