The Sports minister Rekha Arya announced that 31 medal-winning players in the State will be offered government jobs under the out-of-turn employment scheme. Arya said that this decision aims to motivate players towards sports in Uttarakhand and secure their future by providing direct job opportunities. The Sports Directorate invited applications for out-of-turn employment to gazetted/non-gazetted posts for those who had won medals in international/national sports competitions. After receiving 120 applications for 156 posts, the screening committee recommended 31 applicants for out-of-turn employment following all relevant government orders, she said.
Arya further stated that the original certificates process and police verification of the chosen players is currently underway. Once the verification process concludes, the selected players will be appointed to the departments concerned. The State government is steadfastly committed to promoting sports and fostering the growth of players in the state, she added.
It will be recalled that the out-of-turn employment scheme is an initiative for medal-winning players. Those who have won medals at national or international games, as well as those who have represented the State in any game, will be eligible for a direct government job in the State.
