The Sports minister Rekha Arya informed that Uttarakhand will be the first State to organise all 34 games within the State during the 38th National Games, set to commence on January 28, 2025. She made this statement while inspecting the construction of the Manoj Sarkar Sports Stadium in Rudrapur on Friday.
During her inspection of the velodrome cycling track and the multi-purpose sports hall, she emphasised that the government is committed to developing top-notch sporting infrastructure in the State. This initiative will make Uttarakhand the first State in the country to host all 34 games locally. Arya expressed pride in hosting the 38th National Games and highlighted the significance of building a velodrome cycling track in the state, noting that previous many states have often taken place in other states to organise a similar event.
She further directed officials from the implementing agency and the concerned department to expedite construction work at the Stadium while ensuring that the quality of the facilities meets the highest standards. Emphasising the importance of the National Games, she warned that no negligence would be tolerated in the ongoing construction projects and that the convenience of the athletes must be prioritised.
Additionally, Arya inquired about the stadium’s capacity from officials of the Uttarakhand Olympic Association (UAO). She also instructed concerned officials to expedite the completion of the spectator gallery’s roofing as soon as possible. Besides this, she also inaugurated the newly constructed multipurpose sports hall in Gadarpur.
