In latest news from Uttarakhand, with rain wreaking havoc in Nainital district, normal life remains disrupted. While 39 roads, including five State highways, remain blocked rain water reportedly gushed into households in both urban and rural areas. The torrential rain lashing the hills for days, the water level of Gaula river continues to rise. The situation worsened further after 45,500 cusecs of water was discharged in the already swollen river.
Anticipating aggravation of the situation, the concerned administration urged all to remain alert in the plain areas of the district. Besides, it is engaged in efforts to evacuation people living in proximity to Gaula to safer places.
