39,000 new voters added to U’khand’s electoral rolls

In the new year about 39,000 new voters in Uttarakhand will become eligible to vote. In the special summary revision programme- 2025 of the electoral rolls underway in the State as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India (ECI) from October 2024, the process of revision of electoral rolls is being done.

The additional chief electoral officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande informed that the ECI conducts the process of updating the voter list every year under the special summary revision programme. 

He said that as per the instructions of chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam, the programme this year is focused on new voters and young voters and they were encouraged to register their names in the voter list. Under this campaign, a total of  1,16,428 applications were received from across the State and out of these applications, 38,909 applicants in the age group of 18 to 19 years were received in the form of Form VI.

Jogdande informed that the ECI has now fixed four eligibility dates in a year for registering names in the voter list, in which voters who have completed 18 years of age on the dates of January 1, April 1, July 1 and October 1 can get their names added to the voter list.

He informed that on the orders of the CEO, all the officers have been assigned the responsibility of super checking campaigns in different districts. In the campaign feedback is being taken from the voters by the officers themselves while doing super checking at the polling booth on a regular basis.  The ACEO informed that the final publication of the voter list in the state will be done on January 6, 2025 in the special summary revision programme.
