40,024 from Tehri cured from anaemia under special drive

With the Tehri district health department carrying on with a special action plan to make the district free of anemia since May, the district magistrate Mayur Dixit informed that under the drive till date, hemoglobin test of all the targeted beneficiaries had been completed and 22248 of them across age groups have been freed from mild anaemia, 17492 have been freed from moderate anaemia to mild anaemia and 384 pregnant women have been freed from severe anaemia.     
The district chief medical officer Dr Shyam Vijay said that in the first phase, hemoglobin had been tested in 144167 people against the target of 134394 from different age groups.

As per the National Family Health Survey conducted in 2020-21, children in the age group of six to 59 months, women of 15 to 49 years, adolescents of 15 to 19 years, non-pregnant women of 15 to 49 years and pregnant women of 15 to 49 years of Uttarakhand were found to have 58 per cent, 42 per cent, 40 per cent, 42 per cent and 46 per cent hemoglobin deficiency respectively.
