5 vehicle thieves held, 11 2-wheelers recovered

Udham Singh Nagar police have arrested five alleged vehicle thieves and recovered 11 stolen motorcycles in two separate operations conducted by Transit Camp and Khatima police as part of Operation Prahar.
Police said that the crackdown was carried out under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ajay Ganpati, who stressed on stern action against property-related crimes and organised criminal activities.
In the first operation, Transit Camp police acted on a tip-off and apprehended three suspects near an abandoned structure on Ganeshpur Road and recovered a stolen motorcycle. During interrogation, the accused are said to have confessed to their involvement in multiple vehicle theft cases. Based on their disclosures, police later recovered five more stolen motorcycles hidden in bushes at different locations. The recovered vehicles were linked to theft cases registered in Transit Camp and Pantnagar areas.
In a separate operation, Khatima police arrested an accused identified as Farmaan Fareedi alias Fukna with a stolen motorcycle near Sujia Road. His interrogation led to the recovery of additional stolen vehicles concealed near a desolate stretch. Subsequently, another accused, Pawan Dhami was arrested from the Chakarpur area.
Police further said that the accused would target motorcycles parked outside markets, shops, gyms and residential colonies. “After stealing these vehicles, they used to conceal them in isolated locations before attempting to sell them at lower prices,” a police officer, familiar with the details, said.
Further investigation is underway, and police are verifying the criminal records of the accused.
