50+ Kanwadiyas saved from drowning in Ganga so far

The authorities claim that more than 50 Kanwadiyas have been rescued from the Ganga river in Haridwar since the start of the Kanwad Mela earlier this month. Lakhs of people are visiting the banks of the Ganga in Haridwar daily since the start of the Kanwad Yatra on July 14. The event is current at its peak. With the monsoon rains also being experienced in various parts of the State including the mountains, the current of the river is stronger in the Haridwar region.
The team of water police and Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) is stationed on the spot and is responding swiftly by rescuing any visitor appearing to have been carried away by the strong current of the river here. District magistrate Vinay Shankar Pandey inspected the condition of Ganga Ghats with the team of water police.He also boarded a boat and took a trip on the river from Damkothi to Har Ki Paidi.
