50k bounty on couple accused of retired principal’s murder in Doon

The police have announced a reward of Rs 25,000 each for the arrest of a couple accused in the murder of a retired principal of a government school Shyamlal Rathore in Dehradun. The Uttar Pradesh police found his body near a canal in Saharanpur on February 17 and handed it over to the Dehradun police.
The accused, an MBBS student in Dehradun, Himanshu Chaudhary and his wife Geeta, have been on the run since the incident, the Dehradun senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh said. He informed that earlier, the police arrested two suspects, Ajay Kumar (22) and Dhanraj Chawla (30), from Saharanpur for their alleged involvement in disposing of the Rathore’s body. They have been sent to jail. “The police teams have been conducting raids in different States to trace the absconding couple. Due to their continued evasion, a cash reward has been announced for their arrest,” he said.
The SSP stated that the police are still investigating the motive behind the crime, as the arrested suspects have not provided a clear explanation. However, the deceased owned property worth crores in Dehradun and had faced multiple attempts to seize it in the past. The investigation is ongoing to determine whether more individuals were involved in the crime, he added.
