In order to promote cultural engagement, 51 replicas of the artifacts displayed at the Himalayan Cultural Centre (HCC) have been prepared. The director of Culture department, Beena Bhatt stated that a total of 123 replicas of the museum’s artifacts will be prepared in three stages. She said that the first round has been completed with the making of 51 replicas. The remaining 72 replicas are currently being developed in the second and third stages and will be finalised soon, she added.
Bhatt further said that the procedure of making the replicas is long as every detail of the original artefact has to be replicated. The work of making all the replicas is expected to be completed within three months, she added.
It will be recalled that the Culture department had initiated the creation of replicas of the artifacts displayed at HCC to enhance accessibility to culture. The department has also decided to establish a separate laboratory at HCC to preserve the replicas. Skilled artisans will be responsible for maintaining the replicas. According to department officials, the laboratory will begin operations immediately after the replicas are completed.
Regarding the selection of folk artistes in the recent auditions, Bhatt said that the four-day auditions were recently held at HCC, where an independent panel was invited to select the folk artistes. The auditions have concluded and the process of selecting the folk artistes is currently underway, she said.
