55.68 lakh health cards made in Ayushman scheme: Minister

The State Health Authority (SHA) has prepared and handed over more than 56.68 lakh Ayushman cards so far and a total of 11.69 lakh patients have availed the benefit of free treatment in the hospitals in the panel of the SHA.

The Health minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State government has paid a sum of Rs 2,342 crore for treatment under the scheme which otherwise would have been a burden on the patients. He said that the Ayushman scheme is nothing less than the Sanjivini for the poor people. Rawat said that the entire system is directed at ensuring that the benefit of the scheme reaches out to every person. The minister said that the people standing last on the social ladder are getting benefits under the scheme. He said that the health cards are being prepared with pre-set targets and the awareness programmes of the department regarding the scheme have made it very accessible for people. The minister said that the panelled hospitals have been directed to adopt a positive attitude towards the patients admitted under the Ayushman scheme. 

 On the orders of the minister a special camp was organised at Cheshire home India in Dehradun on Saturday. In the camp health cards specially abled ( Divyang) people were made.
