56 dilapidated school structures demolished in Dehradun

The district administration under the direction of the district magistrate, Savin Bansal has demolished 56 dilapidated school buildings across the district to ensure safety of the children. A total of 64 completely unsafe school buildings had been identified, out of which 56 were demolished,  the DM said, adding that the remaining eight buildings would be razed down in one month.

Officials further said that many of these buildings had remained in a precarious condition for years risking students’ life. For the first time, such a large number of unsafe school buildings have been demolished together in the district, they added.

So far, buildings of four secondary schools and 52 primary schools have been demolished. In addition, several unsafe classrooms have also been razed down.

The DM has also ensured that the student’s studies are not affected. Alternative arrangements have been made so that classes could continue smoothly in safe locations. “We will tolerate no risks involving the safety and education of children,” he added.
