56 huts burnt to ashes in Vikasnagar, DM announces monetary aid to affected families

After 56 huts were burnt to ashes in the Bhauwala area of Selaqui on Tuesday, the Dehradun district magistrate R Rajesh Kumar announced to provide monetary assistance of Rs 3,800 to each affected family. On Tuesday, 56 huts were burnt to ashes in the Bhauwala area after a hut allegedly caught fire during cooking which spread across the area in the afternoon. The officials informed that most of the residents of the area are labourers and daily wagers. They said that very few people were present in the locality when a hut caught fire from a Chulha and the fire spread across the area and burned down 56 huts. The burning of the huts has affected 46 families. Though the fire services arrived soon after getting the information, most of the huts were burnt to ashes by then, as per the officials. The administration has shifted the affected families to a temple’s premises in Bhauwala where they are being provided with food and other necessary facilities. Considering the incident, the DM has directed the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Vikasnagar to ensure that each affected family gets the monetary aid of Rs 3,800 as per the standard procedure besides all possible assistance from the administration.
