66,157 vaccinations a day needed to complete target on time

In order to achieve its commitment to complete the vaccination of the entire adult 18 plus population before December 31 this year the Uttarakhand government needs to vaccinate 66,157 people in a day for the remaining period of the year. The state health department administered only 19,721 beneficiaries’ on Sunday in 206 vaccine sessions which shows that the department has to increase its current pace of vaccination.
The founder of Social Development for Communities (SDC) foundation Anoop Nautiyal said that there are 49,34,219 citizens in the age group 18 to 44 in the state. Similarly the population of 45 plus people is 27,95,247 and there are 1,28,003 health care and 1,93,216 frontline workers in the state. He said that the state needs to vaccinate 80,50,684 people which means that a total of 1,61,01,368 doses are needed. Nautiyal added that 42,03,963 people have received the first dose while 13,12,281 people have received both shots of vaccines. The state has so far administered 55,16,244 doses till July 24. He said that 160 days are remaining in this year and the state and the health department should accelerate the pace of vaccination to achieve the target of complete vaccination.
