67,815 new students admitted in govt schools for new session

A total of 67,815 new students were enrolled in class 1 to 12 in the government schools of the State under the ‘School Chalo campaign.
The data of the School Education department shows that 24,381 students were admitted in the primary schools of the State while a total of 31,008 students were enrolled in the upper primary schools of the State. In the secondary level, a total of 12,426 students were admitted in the school under the campaign. A special programme was held in all the schools on Tuesday under the School Chalo campaign. In the campaign the teachers welcomed the newly admitted students in their schools. The students were also distributed free textbooks on the occasion.
Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat inaugurated the campaign in a virtual mode. He said that the priority of the Education department is to impart quality education to every student. Rawat said that the government is trying to provide best facilities and environment in the schools of the State as per the provisions of the National Education Policy -2020. He said that apart from providing basic facilities, work on digitalisation in the schools is also underway. “ Efforts are being made to recruit permanent teachers on the vacant posts. The students are also being provided free textbooks which is one of the major achievements of the State government,’’ he said.
The minister directed the officers of the department to ensure 100 per cent enrolment of all the students in the campaign so that no child is deprived from education. He said that the teachers and the employees of the Education department should visit every household in the area and persuade the parents to send their children to the schools. The objective of the campaign is to enrol the maximum number of students in the schools and reduce the dropout rate, he said.
