The State Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister Rekha Arya announced that appointment letters for 7,000 Anganwadi workers and assistants would be distributed in May. “The recruitment process in the rural areas is ongoing, covering approximately 7,000 posts,” she said, adding that she had instructed the officials to complete this recruitment process by April 20.
She further said that the goal is to provide appointment letters to the newly appointed workers in the first week of May.
“To enhance their working conditions, the WECD department plans to provide them with new mobile handsets and SIM cards. These SIM cards will be assigned to the Anganwadi centres, allowing any woman working there to complete her tasks using the device. Anganwadi workers will receive Rs 2,000 for recharging their phones and the department will bear the cost of their internet data,” she said.
Further, Arya informed that instructions have been given to officials to prepare a blueprint for providing financial security to the families of Anganwadi workers from the Anganwadi Welfare Fund. “This support will include assistance for their daughters’ education and marriage as well as in case of accidents happening to them,” she said, adding that the State’s women policy is nearly finalised and would be presented at the next Cabinet meeting.
Further, the Cabinet is expected to approve amendments to the Chief Minister’s Single Women Self-Employment Scheme soon.
