74 roads blocked across State

With there being some respite from heavy rains in many parts of the State contrary to the weather forecast in recent days, the number of roads blocked in various parts of the State has decreased a bit. According to the information provided by the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) on Saturday evening, a total of 74 roads were blocked in the different districts of the State.

In the Uttarkashi district the Rishikesh-Yamunotri national highway 94 and Rishikesh-Gangotri national highway 108 are open for traffic along with the bridle path from Gangotri to Gaumkukh. However, 11 rural motor roads are blocked in the district. While there was no information of blocked roads in Haridwar district only one rural motor road was blocked in Nainital district. Similarly, all national highways, state highways and rural motor roads were open in Udham Singh Nagar district while one rural motor road was reported to be blocked in Almora district. In the Chamoli district the Rishikesh-Badrinath national highway 58 was open for traffic though 20 rural motor roads in the district were reported to be blocked in the district.

All national highways, state highways and rural motor roads were reported to be open in Dehradun district. Four rural motor roads were blocked in the Pauri district. In the Champawat district the Tanakpur-Champawat-Ghat national highway 107 was open for traffic though one rural motor road was reported to be blocked. Further, in the Rudraprayag district the Rishikesh-Kedarnath national highway 107 and the bridle path from Gaurikund to Kedarnath were open though seven rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in the district. In the Tehri district the Rishikesh-Chamba-Dharasu national highway 94 was blocked by debris near Kandikhal. Apart from this, a total of six rural motor roads were blocked in the district. Similarly, two main district roads and four rural motor roads were blocked in the Bageshwar district while 15 rural motor roads were reported to be blocked in Pithoragarh district. Efforts were underway to clear the debris and open all the roads for traffic.
