748 new cases of Covid-19 found in Uttarakhand

Amid spectre of the arrival of the second wave of the Covid-19 in Uttarakhand the state health department reported 748 cases of the disease on Friday. The state now has 106246 cumulative cases of the disease.
The department also reported the death of five patients of the disease on the day which increased the death toll in the state to 1749. The authorities discharged 327 patients from different hospitals of the state following their recovery from the disease on friday. A total of 97327 patients have recovered from the disease in the state and the recovery percentage is now at 91.61 and the sample positivity rate is 3.56 percent.
The authorities reported 335 new cases of the disease from Dehradun, 229 from Haridwar, 73 from Udham Singh Nagar, 30 from Pauri, 22 from Nainital, 18 from Tehri, 13 from Almora, nine from Bageshwar, eight from Pithoragarh, six from Champawat, three from Chamoli and two from Uttarkashi on Friday. No new patient was reported from Rudraprayag on the day.
The health department reported the death of two patients of Covid-19 from Himalayan hospital Jollygrant and Mahant Indiresh hospital Dehradun on Friday. One patient was reported dead at JNL Hospital Rudrapur.
The state now has 5384 active patients of the disease. Dehradun continues to be at the top of the table of active cases of the disease with 2141 patients, Haridwar has 1610, Nainital 528, Udham Singh Nagar 293, Tehri 229, Almora 87, Pithoragarh 75, Bageshwar 69, Rudraprayag 44, Champawat 35 ,Uttarkashi 34 and Chamoli 18 active cases of Covid-19.
In the vaccination drive 60841 people were vaccinated in different parts of the state on Friday. In the state 172339 people have been fully vaccinated so far as they have received both the first and second dose of the vaccine. The Chief Operations Officer (COO) of state Covid-19 control room, Dr Abhishek Tripathi said that 697 vaccine sessions were organised in different parts of the state on Friday. In Dehradun 116 vaccine sessions were organised in which 10254 persons above 45 years of age, 198 healthcare workers and 138 front line workers were vaccinated on Friday. In Haridwar 170 sessions were organised on the day in which 9017 persons above 45 years of age, 67 health care workers and 397 front line workers were vaccinated.
