75 bridges found unsafe following safety audit
Several of them closed for traffic movement with immediate effect

In latest Uttarakhand news, as many as 75 bridges across the State have been found unsafe as per the safety audit conducted on the order of the State government following the collapse of the key bridge over Malan river in Kotdwar. While 13 of such bridges are in Dehradun district, nine are in Chamoli district, seven in Tehri district, six in Uttarkashi district, six in Haridwar district, five in Udham Singh Nagar district, four in Almora district, three in Pithoragarh district, two in Nainital district, one each in Rudraprayag and Bageshwar districts and three on national highways. Sources in the know said that as per the bridge safety audit report, condition of some of these bridges identified as unsafe is precarious. The State government has ordered immediate closure of these very unsafe bridges.
