8 buildings razed down in Gaulapar

In latest news from Uttarakhand, in continuing anti-encroachment drive, the administrative team led by sub-divisional magistrate, Haldwani, accompanied by police and forest department officers, razed down eight structures allegedly coming up on the forest department lands in the Bagjala area of Gaulapar. Several JCBs were used to demolish the under-construction buildings. In view of the February 8 violence in Vanbhulpura that erupted during anti-encroachment drive resulting in five casualties, a heavy contingent of police was present during the demolition operation. Besides, a number of senior forest officers and the SP Haldwani were present. The sub-divisional magistrate Haldwani said that they have started investigation into some land mafias encroaching forest land and then selling them.
