8 yr old dies as toilet roof in Champawat school collapses
Children were playing on the roof of dilapidated toilet of school; CM Dhami orders magisterial probe

A class III student lost his life and five others sustained serious injuries after the roof of a toilet of a government primary school in Pati block of Champawat collapsed on Wednesday. The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed his grief on the unfortunate death and ordered a magisterial inquiry into the matter. The officials informed that some students were playing on the roof of a dilapidated toilet of the school when it suddenly collapsed and six children got trapped under it. The locals somehow managed to take out the children from under the rubble but a class III student Chandan (8) died at the spot, as per the officials. They informed that five injured students were taken to Lohaghat hospital where they are currently getting the medical treatment. The CM has also directed the officials concerned to conduct a magisterial inquiry into the matter and take action against the guilty party. The families of the deceased will also be given Rs two lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. Dhami has also directed the officials to hold inspections of all government school buildings to avoid such unfortunate incidents in future.
