84 new doctors to be posted in remote areas of 9 districts

The State Health Minister Dhan Singh Rawat said that his department would soon post 84 new MBBS doctors who had passed out from the Government Medical College, Srinagar in nine hill districts of the State. The list had been handed over to the chief medical officers concerned to ensure they be posted in the medical units in the mountainous areas   on priority basis. “We are going all-out to upgrade health facilities in the medical units across the State. Things are improving with the deployment of specialist doctors, nursing officers and paramedical staff in various cadres. Now, we are posting 84 doctors in nine hill districts,” he said.  

He further said that under the bond system, 15 doctors would be deployed in Pauri and Almora districts, 11 in Pithoragarh, nine each in Chamoli and Rudraprayag, seven each in Uttarkashi and Tehri, six in Bageshwar and five in Champawat district.  “All these doctors will have to report to their places of posting within 20 days and submit their contribution report to the CMOs of the districts concerned,” he said, adding that   they have been appointed on fixed honorarium for five years under the bond system.
