The process of the first phase of voting through postal ballot via going door-to-door was completed on Wednesday in all districts of Uttarakhand. In the first phase, 8,680 voters out of 9,993 voters above 85 years of age exercised their right to vote. In the category of disabled voters, 2,595 out of 2,899 registered voters have exercised their franchise in the Lok Sabha elections of 2024, the additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) Vijay Kumar Jogdande said. He informed that the second phase of the door to door postal ballot voting process will be completed from April 11 to April 13. He said that as per the guidelines of the Election Commission of India, the administration has made the Poll Day Monitoring System (PDMS) effective to get all necessary information on the voting day. The presiding officer can give information to the commission on the polling day either through the PDMS app or through SMS in case of network issues. All presiding officers will register on this app and update various activities of the voting process from time to time. The commission will set up control rooms at the district and state levels to ensure proper arrangements for information exchange on the polling day, he added.
