In latest news from Dehradun, the State administration has written to all the district magistrates, informing that cultural/religious programmes would be held throughout the State from the Uttarayni that falls on January 14 to January 22-the day on which consecration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya would be held. The order states that committees should be formed at the development block level of each district which would make arrangements for kalash yatra and tableaux to be taken out at religious places with the participation of Mahila Mangal Dal, Yuvak Mangal Dal and self-help groups. Besides, sanitation campaigns should be conducted in all the temples and bathing ghats situated on the river banks. Further, deepotsav and aarti should be organised at all the eminent temples and ghats with Ramcharitmanas recitation and bhajan-kirtan. There should be several religious programmes preceding the consecration ceremony in Ayodhya slated on January 22, the order says.
