GB Pant dedicated entire life for service of society- CM Dhami

Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in a programme organised to commemorate 135th birth anniversary of former union cabinet minister, first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and recipient of Bharat Ratna, Govind Ballabh Pant at IRDT auditorium here on Saturday. Paying glowing tributes to Pant, the CM said that he was a great freedom fighter, social worker and astute administrator. He played a key role in the eradication of Kuli Begar and Zamindari system in the country.
Dhami said that Pant dedicated his whole life for societal service and his works would continue to inspire the younger generations. Dhami said that Pant had a special affection towards the mountainous areas and he played a key role in ensuring that Hindi gets the status of Rajbhasha. Dhami said that Pant who was the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and union home minister of the country never deviated from the path of service. He said that Uttarakhand is a young State and in the year 2025 it would celebrate its silver jubilee of creation. Dhami said that the State government is working to make Uttarakhand one of the leading states of the country by the year 2025. He said that collective efforts are needed to fulfil this dream.
Former CM and Member of Parliament (MP) from Haridwar Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ said that G B Pant dedicated his life for freedom of the country and worked for the development of mountainous areas and preservation of culture. Terming Uttarakhand as the Devbhoomi and Veerbhoomi, Nishnak said that a revolutionary like Pant took birth in this land. He said that we should move forward on the path shown by Pant. The former CM said that today the country is moving at a fast pace in the field of science, technology and research.
Rajpur road MLA Khajan Das, Kalyan Singh Rawat of Maiti movement fame and others were present on the occasion.
