Pain awareness month being celebrated in MI hospital

Various awareness programmes are being organised in the Mahant Indiresh hospital during the ongoing National Pain Awareness Month (September).
On Monday the department of anaesthesia of the hospital organised a ‘Poster Competition’ displaying and discussing the subject of ‘the various aspects of Chronic Pain and its influence on life’. More than 100 medical and nursing students and staff members participated in the event.
The judges of the competition were Dr Pankaj Arora, Dr Gaurav Raturi, Dr Nidhi Jain and Dr Ajeet Tiwari.
MBBS student Sanya and operation theatre technician Shivani won the first prize jointly in the competition.
Speaking on the occasion, the HOD of anaesthesia department, Dr Robina Makker explained about the treatments for chronic pain. She said that the chronic pains include cancer related pain, arthritic pain, frozen shoulder, post traumatic pain, neuropathic pain, vascular pain and others. She said that Dr Neha Kathor and Dr Priyanka Mishra of the department hold Post Doctorate Certification Course degree in pain and palliative care management which is a specialist course in pain management encompassing various approaches like pharmacological treatment, psychological treatment and interventional treatment for pain relief.
The vice principal, Shri Guru Ram Rai Institute of Medical and Health Sciences, Dr Puneet Ohri was present on the occasion.
