Darshan Lal takes charge of the SC cell of Uttarakhand Congress

Former chief minister Harish Rawat said that the Congress has a history of bouncing back after facing adversity. He was speaking after the newly appointed president of the State Congress SC cell, Darshan Lal took charge of the office on Tuesday. Large number of Congress party leaders and workers attended a programme organised in the headquarters of the State Congress on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Rawat said the Congress party has a long and cherished history and the party is going through a tough phase in current times. He said that the Congress party has faced similar situations in the past and returned back with triumph. Rawat said that the BJP which is now talking about Ambedkar had opposed Ambedkar. He added that downtrodden sections of the society are still connected with the party and they should be respected.

Speaking on the occasion the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president, Karan Mahara said that Congress party respects all religions, sections and castes and always stands with the person standing last on the social ladder. He added that the party has faced and weathered the tough phase of the years 1977, 1989 and 1996. Launching an attack on the BJP, the PCC president said that the party has always taken the help of falsehood but the people have realised its designs. He said the BJP has no faith in the democratic values and is toying with the unity and integrity of the country.

Former member of parliament Pradeep Tamta exhorted the party workers to work for strengthening the organisation.  

 The newly appointed president of SC cell Darshan Lal thanked everyone and said that he will work very hard to discharge the responsibility given to him. The programme was attended by the party’s national secretary Qazi Nizamuddin, MLA Vikram Singh Negi, vice president (organisation) Mathura Dutt Joshi and others.
