Record breaking number of tourists visit the valley this year

The famous Valley of Flowers in Chamoli district is set to be closed to the public on Monday. A record number of 20,827 domestic and foreign tourists have visited the valley so far this year after the break caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Valley of Flowers forest ranger Gaurav Negi informed that the valley will be closed to tourists on Monday. After the break caused by the Covid pandemic, a record breaking number of tourists visited the valley this year. Out of the 20,827 tourists who visited the valley this year, 280 were foreigners. The Forest department has so far earned a revenue of Rs 31,73,400 from the advent of the tourists to the valley. The number of visitors to the valley has been highest this year. The previous highest number of visitors was 17, 424 in 2019, he added.

It is pertinent to mention here that more than 300 species of flowers bloom in the valley especially during July-August.
