Party to take out major protest march to secretariat on November 21
Senior leader of Congress party Pritam Singh has said that the BJP government is dithering from ordering Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry in the Ankita Bhandari murder case and the Uttarakhand Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UkSSSC) paper leak scam in an attempt to shield influential culprits. Interacting with the mediapersons at Vidhan Sabha office of Congress party here on Friday, the Chakrata MLA and former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president said that the brutal murder of Ankita Bhandari has shaken entire Uttarakhand and everyone including the Congress party had demanded a CBI inquiry in the case but the government is shying away from it. He said the name of the VIP involved in the crime has not been revealed as yet and it appears that the government is shielding him. Singh said that it is surprising that on one hand the chief minister of the state claimed on the social media platforms that bulldozer has been used on the property of the accused in the case but on another the district magistrate of Pauri denied having given any orders to raze the property. He said that only that portion of the property was razed where Ankita Bhandari used to reside which clearly shows that an attempt to destroy evidence has been done. The Congress leader said that the UKSSSC scam and other scams in the recruitments in government departments have deeply hurt the interests of the unemployed youths in the State. He said that reports of involvement of some politicians in these scams have surfaced time and again and it has put up a question mark on the character of every politician. Singh said that to remove this misconception in public and to expose the identity of those involved in the scams, a demand for a CBI inquiry under the supervision of a sitting judge of the High Court was made but the government has not accepted this justified demand. On the backdoor appointments in the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha, Singh said that the speaker acted in haste without taking legal opinion to remove the ad hoc employees appointed in the year 2016 and 2021. The Congress leader said that the State government has almost disowned Gairsain as no session of the assembly has been organised there from the last two years. He said that it is unfortunate that Uttarakhand still does not have a permanent capital as Dehradun is the provisional capital while Gairsain is the summer capital of the State.
The Congress leader said that a mega protest March to the State secretariat would be taken out on November 21.
The Pratapnagar MLA Vikram Singh Negi, former MLA from Gangotri V P Sajwan, former MLA Rajkumar, vice president of Uttarakhand Congress Surya Kant Dhasmana and others were present on the occasion.
