Woman SI suspended for negligence in alleged rape case

The Haridwar senior superintendent of police Ajai Singh has suspended a woman sub-inspector posted at SIIDCUL police station for negligence in the investigation of a rape case. In the case registered on the orders of the court, the address of the accused was not known to the victim. It is reported that the woman sub-inspector Lalita Chufal did not find the address of the accused and filed a charge sheet against an unknown person. Taking cognisance, the SSP suspended the woman sub inspector. Along with this, a preliminary inquiry has also been ordered against SIIDCUL police station inspector Pramod Uniyal.
Recently, a woman from the SIIDCUL area had filed a case alleging rape on the pretext of marriage. The accused used to work in a factory in SIIDCUL. The victim met him there and after allegedly raping her several times on the pretext of marriage, the accused fled. The victim had written the name and local address of the accused in the case, but she was not aware of the original address.
During the investigation,sub inspector Chufal gathered information on the local address of the accused, but could not get much information. After this, the sub inspector filed a charge sheet against the unknown accused within two months. After the matter came to the notice of CO (Sadar) Bahadur Singh Chauhan, he informed the SSP. Taking cognisance of this, the SSP has suspended the sub inspector for negligence.
