The additional director of secondary education, Garhwal region, Mahavir Singh Bisht has suspended government girls higher secondary school, Kantholi (Tehri) teacher Archana Uniyal with immediate effect and attached her to the office of the block education officer at Jakhnidhar in Tehri district. The teacher was suspended on the report of chief education officer of Tehri and for being in jail for more than 48 hours following a case registered against her for abetment of suicide.
Bisht told this correspondent that teacher Uniyal was transferred from Bauradi to the government girls higher secondary school at Kantholi. She was posted as a principal in Bauradi and handed over charge to Vimla Gusain on being transferred. It is being said that the two had a conversation and later Gusain committed suicide. It was alleged that Uniyal may have provoked Gusain which led to the suicide. Suman Gusain, the husband of Vimla Gusain, had registered a case against Uniyal on October 14 in Tehri. The police arrested Uniyal on November 7 after which she was also reportedly jailed. According to service rules if any government employee remains in jail for more than 48 hours, the department concerned has to suspend the employee. She has been attached to the office of the block education officer at Jakhnidhar in Tehri district. She will join this office after she secures bail, said Bisht.
