Smart City advisory forum discusses various issues

30+ schools selected for development of child friendly aspects nearby
Various issues were discussed during the meeting of the city level advisory forum of the Dehradun Smart City project here on Saturday. Officials gave presentations about the planned and under construction works under the Smart City project.
Dehradun Smart City Limited (DSCL) officials informed the public representatives, officials and others in the meeting about the various works being undertaken as part of the project in the city. Presentations were also made for the new VIP stage on Parade Ground and the construction of new sheds in Paltan Bazaar. The forum members proposed that the names of the shops should be written in Hindi, which was unanimously approved by the traders present in the meeting.
The officials were directed to take directions from time to time from a joint team of the traders and public representatives regarding the work progress in construction of the sheds. As part of the plan to develop child friendly aspects in the city, the proposal to include more than 30 schools was also approved. Footpaths and other aspects will be made child friendly near the selected schools. The Public Works Department project implementation unit requested the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited to soon shift the electricity poles standing on smart road so that construction works under the project can be expedited.
The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun was requested to shift the hoardings and similar structures from the smart road so that work on the project is not hampered. Detailed discussions were also held regarding the issues and difficulties being faced in execution of works under the project. Dehradun mayor Sunil Uniyal ‘Gama’, MLAs Khajan Das, Umesh Sharma ‘Kau’, DSCL CEO Sonika and other officials concerned were also present in the meeting.
