Minister says every home in Kandarsyun area will soon have water supply
The famous two-day Bunkhal Kalinka mela started in Pauri district with enthusiasm and religious fervour in Pauri district on Saturday. Thousands of devotees of the goddess arrived here from nearby villages and different parts of the State and nation on the occasion. Health and Education minister Dhan Singh Rawat also attended the religious fair and paid his obeisance to the goddess. Addressing the large gathering on the occasion, the minister said that the drinking water project has been sanctioned for the Kandarsyun area and very soon the water will be supplied to every house in the area. Large water tanks will be constructed in locations from Chaurikhal to Pithundi so that the people of area do not have to face the problem of water shortage. A health camp was also organised on the occasion and the minister also inspected this camp.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Bunkhal Kalinka Mela has been one of the four major religious fairs of Pauri district for many decades now. This particular event was also known for the considerable numbers of goats and buffaloes sacrificed by the people after the fulfillment of their wishes. However, animal sacrifice has been discontinued in all the four fairs following High Court orders and rise in public awareness for some years now.
